Essential Oils for Mold and MildewRainy season in Florida is sure to bring higher humidity than usual. I believe it is the perfect opportunity for a discussion about essential oils for mold and mildew. Anti-fungal properties are commonly found in essential oils and are good for combating mold around the house.

Top Essential Oils for Mold and Mildew

Lemongrass is an incredible essential oil for mold or mildew. Lemongrass is antimicrobial, anti-fungal, and antibacterial. Add a couple of drops to fight mold in vacuum bags and filters.

Geranium is highly anti-fungal and antiseptic. It pairs well with patchouli, another great essential oil for mold.

Eucalyptus is a familiar oil for cold and flu season because it works well to cleanse the air in the home and open the airways. Eucalyptus is also good as an anti-fungal and can help kill mold or mildew.

Cinnamon Leaf is an antimicrobial that has been used for millenniums for various ailments. It’s anti-fungal properties and strong smell makes for a beneficial mold remover.

Tea Tree is another highly sought-after essential oil for being antibacterial, antiseptic, and anti-fungal. To protect your showers from mold or mildew, make a spray with tea tree essential oil.

Clove is antiseptic and antiviral. With its spicy aroma and anti-fungal properties, clove bud has been used for various skin infections such as athlete’s foot.

Purify Essential Oil Blend is our own synergistic blend of Cinnamon, Orange, Black Spruce, and Clove. Purify is great for cleaning the air in your home and great for killing mold or mildew.

Myrrh is antimicrobial and anti-fungal and works well for athlete’s foot and ringworm.

Patchouli is an essential oil with many benefits, one of the benefits being that it also works as an anti-fungal. Patchouli pairs well with clove and myrrh.

DIY Recipes for Mold or Mildew Around the House

Carpet Freshener
• 2 C. baking soda
• 5 drops lemongrass essential oil
• 5 drops geranium essential oilGeranium Flowers
• 5 drops tea tree essential oil
• 5 drops cinnamon leaf essential oil
Put baking soda in a bowl. Add essential oil drops. Mix well with a spoon. Sprinkle on carpet and let set for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Vacuum up.

Anti-fungal Bathroom Spray
• 2 C. distilled water
• 1/4 C. distilled vinegar
• 40 drops Purify Essential Oil Blend
Add all ingredients in the order listed above to a 16oz spray bottle. Cap and shake well before each use. Spray on floors, shower curtains, doors or any areas that have mold. Let set for a few hours and wipe with a damp cloth. For mold prevention use as a shower spray and spray after each shower. Let it sit in between shower use.
