Here at Kokokahn we take essential oil quality very seriously. All of the essential oils we sell and use in our aromatherapy products are unsprayed, wildcrafted or certified organic through the farmers we purchase them from. All of the essential oils we receive are GC/MS tested to ensure therapeutic quality and purity. When we receive an essential oil we put it through strict quality control measures to make sure it meets our high standards. We also batch code each essential oil bottle we sell allowing us to trace the bottle of essential oil you purchase back to the distillation date.
All of our pure essential oils are GC/MS tested for purity, therapeutic quality and adulterants. This test provides a chemical analysis of a plant’s oil (essential oil). This provides two benefits. First, we have 100% assurance that there are no synthetic constituents added to the oils which would render the therapeutic value of the oils useless, along with any negative side effects the synthetic additives may have. Second, we are better able to understand and utilize the essential oils in the products we produce for you.
GC/MS Testing and Essential Oil Quality
GC/MS stands for Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometry. Many substances are tested for chemical analysis with these machines including wine and essential oils. It is the only way to know that an essential oil has not been adulterated with synthetic chemicals. If any pesticides, herbicides or other synthetic chemicals were present in the oil they would show up on this test too. Every component of the essential oil is calculated allowing aromatherapists to blend for optimal therapeutic healing. For example, Lavender is calming and relaxing due to it’s high content of a component called linalool.
