From a personal discovery to Kokokahn

I’m Traci Dalrymple, founder of Kokokahn Essential Oils and a Certified Aromatherapist. My journey with essential oils began while I was living in Japan. An Australian friend introduced me to aromatherapy, and I was drawn to the idea that plants could become part of the way I cared for myself each day.

I started exploring oils for my own needs: eucalyptus when I felt stuffy, lavender during stressful days, and tagetes for my painful feet after long ballet classes. At the same time, I was having trouble finding skincare that felt right for my dry skin. So I began making my own.

I still have the journals where I recorded those first recipes, experiments, and lessons. What started at my kitchen table grew into a lasting curiosity about how essential oils work, how to use them thoughtfully, and how to make products that would help people support their health naturally with plants. 

A name found in Bali

After several years in Japan, I traveled through Bali on my way back to the United States. I spent a month exploring the island and learning about its aromatherapy traditions. The white heron, known locally as kokokan, stayed with me. Its grace inspired the name Kokokahn.

I had a name and a vision, but I wanted a deeper foundation before building the business. Back in the United States, I spent several years working in spa management, learning how products, treatments, and customer care fit together. I also earned my aromatherapy certification and studied the chemistry and safe use of essential oils.

Rooted in nature. Guided by chemistry.

That combination of personal experience and formal training still shapes Kokokahn today. I create our formulations and personally review the chemical reports for the essential oils we source. If an oil doesn’t meet my standards, I pass on it.

To me, the beauty of aromatherapy lies in both the plants and the care behind choosing them. I want you to feel confident about what you’re bringing into your home, whether you’re looking for a familiar lavender oil or discovering a new blend.

Kokokahn began with something I wanted to make for myself. It became a business I could build for my family and a way to share what I’ve learned with others. Every conversation with a customer reminds me why I started: to help people find simple, enjoyable ways to bring essential oils into everyday life.
