July Essential Oil Spotlight| Strong Anti-fungal Essential Oils
Lemongrass Essential Oil
Lemongrass essential oil is well known for being a great anti-fungal.
Lemongrass is antiseptic and great for fighting off mold. This essential oil combats foot fungus and athlete’s foot. Lemongrass has a fresh grass-like citrus aroma. It is reminiscent of the lemongrass we eat especially in Asian foods like Thai curry. The essential oil i
s steam distilled from the grassy leaves of the lemongrass plant.

Geranium Essential Oil
Geranium essential oil is another antiseptic and
powerful anti-fungal. Geranium combats germs and infections. All in all, geranium is incredible for the skin and supports complexion and hair types. Geranium is steam distilled from the flowers of the plant. The aroma of geranium is rich with floral notes. It blends well with lavender, patchouli, clove bud, sandalwood, bergamot and other citrus oils.

Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea tree essential oil is a popular anti-fungal essential oil.
Tea tree is used in shampoos to help combat dandruff. The essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves. Tea tree helps heals wounds and combats acne. Naturally, tea tree fights off lice, too.
Holistic Benefits of Tea Tree Essential Oil
- Good for post-surgery shock
- Supports the respiratory system

Aloe Gel
Aloe gel is an amazing carrier to use as a base for blending essential oils in. It is important to dilute essential oils with carriers, like aloe gel, to use them safely on the skin. They are just too strong to use undiluted on the skin. As a carrier, aloe gel is cooling and moisturizing. I like aloe gel as a carrier for indigestion and upset tummies. It delivers essential oils more quickly and deeply into the skin giving nauseating pain almost instant relief. Aloe gel is also a great carrier for fungal foot situations.
Benefits of Aloe Gel
- Cools sunburns
- Calms bug bites
- Penetrates the skin quickly
- Soothes itchy skin
For an already-made fungal spray, I love Kokokahn’s Bye Bye Stinky Feet. It is an aloe gel base with geranium and lemongrass essential oils. Smells amazing and helps get rid of stinky athlete’s feet as well as calming toe fungus.
