Interview with Traci Dalrymple:
“Thanks for asking because essential oils for hair growth is for everyone who wants thicker, luxuriously soft, shiny, and manageable hair, naturally. I have a natural shampoo recipe and a natural hair conditioner recipe that I want to talk about, because these toxin free blends are two of my favorites!”
• 4 ounce PET plastic container with pump
• 6 Tablespoons or 3 ounces castille soap
• 2 Tablespoons or 1 ounce aloe gel
OR – 4 ounces of your preferred shampoo base
• 20 drops rosemary essential oil
• 10 drops peppermint essential oil
• 10 drops cedarwood essential oil
• 5 drops basil essential oil
• 5 drops ylang ylang essential oil
Using a funnel pour the castille soap into the container. Add all the essential oil drops. Pour the aloe gel in to the container. Cap and shake. Use as a daily hair loss shampoo.
“Great question! The National Institutes of Health evaluated the effectiveness of essential oils for hair growth and found astounding success when they applied essential oils topically. Plus, there are so many therapeutic values in each individual ingredient in the natural shampoo recipe, as well! For example:
Rosemary Essential Oil has antiseptic, antibacterial, and antiviral properties. It is stimulating and energizing, and good for concentration, memory, focus, respiratory support, and pain relief. Many people may not realize that it is also helpful for dandruff and hair loss.
Peppermint Essential Oil is an antiseptic with uplifting, energizing properties that are also good for concentration and focus, respiratory support, pain relief and digestion.
Cedarwood Essential Oil is grounding, and revitalizing, and helpful for arthritis pain, cellulite, coughs, and bug bites, just to name a few, but it is also good for oily hair and skin, acne, dermatitis and it encourages hair growth.
Basil Essential Oil is good for overall health because it supports the immune system. But it also helps relieve pain, muscle cramps, and is especially good for hair and scalp because I use the chemotype linalool, which is gentle on the skin.
Ylang Ylang Essential Oil is not only good for anxiety and depression; it can also support healthy blood pressure and sleep, as well as being an aphrodisiac. It is great for your hair and scalp, because it helps regulate oils and promotes hair growth stimulation.”
• 1 ounce PET plastic container
• 2 Tablespoons unrefined coconut oil
• 5 drops ylang ylang essential oil
• 5 drops rosemary essential oil
• 5 drops cedarwood essential oil
Add essential oil drops to coconut oil. Mix well. Massage into scalp and hair 2 to 3 times weekly as an overnight hair conditioner. Coconut oil is a soft butter and has a melting point of about 75 degrees. In the winter it may solidify. If it does, take it into the shower with you so it can melt from the shower steam.
“Because I love what it does, and I truly believe everyone who tries it will enjoy the silky feeling of healthy hair that this natural hair conditioner recipe provides, and because I added a special ingredient to this recipe! You will not only get the benefits of the synergistic ingredients of Ylang Ylang, Rosemary, and Cedarwood essential oils, which are also in the natural shampoo recipe, but the “secret added ingredient” you are sure to adore is our unrefined, cold pressed, organic Coconut Oil. It’s fantastic and so moisturizing, it helps retain moisture and, as an antifungal, it is helpful for eczema, psoriasis, and dry hair. And it helps strengthen nails and is good for cuticles – so bonus – you can also pamper your hands as you condition your hair!”
